Position Summary:

SC Labs is seeking a Technical Product Manager/Business Systems Lead – Lab Systems to help bridge laboratory operations, business stakeholders, and technology delivery.

Seeking applicants who already reside in the Northern, CA and/or Central Coast region of CA.

This role focuses on understanding lab workflows, translating business needs into clear system requirements, coordinating delivery, and ensuring quality and continuity in a regulated environment. This is not a hands-on software development role, but a business and delivery-focused position that plays a critical role in keeping initiatives moving predictably from intake through release.

NOTE: The position is Northern California-based, but will have the added requirement of working from our Santa Cruz, CA lab on some days, while working closely with lab and business teams while coordinating with distributed technical resources.

Schedule:

Full time, Monday through Friday, and may require some weekend work. Specific schedule details to be discussed and determined at the time of hire.

Pay Rate:

This will be an exempt employee position, with a salary range of $90,000 to $110,000 based on experience. Starting salary to be determined by the hiring team.

Requirements:

  • At least 4-5 years experience in a Business Analyst, Technical Product Manager, Systems Analyst, or similar hybrid role.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work and drive initiatives to completion.
  • Strong workflow and process documentation skills.
  • Comfort working with technical teams (APIs, data models, integrations) without being a hands-on developer.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate across time zones and coordinate distributed teams.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments (lab, healthcare, biotech, manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with LIMS, ERP, CRM, or operational systems.
  • Exposure to UAT, QA, or release coordination.
  • Prior lab or operations-facing experience.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

Business & Workflow Ownership:
  • Spend regular, part-time time in the lab to understand end-to-end workflows, compliance requirements, and operational pain points.
  • Act as the primary liaison between lab operations, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Translate business needs into clear system requirements and priorities.
Product, Delivery & Project Coordination
  • Own day-to-day coordination of initiatives from intake through delivery.
  • Help sequence work across multiple efforts, balancing priorities, dependencies, and available capacity.
  • Track progress, surface risks early, and ensure follow-through on commitments.
  • Facilitate working sessions, handoffs, and decision-making across stakeholders
Requirements & Documentation
  • Write clear, structured requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure work items are well-scoped and include sufficient context before development begins.
  • Document critical workflows, business rules, and system behaviors to reduce knowledge gaps.
Quality, UAT & Release Readiness
  • Coordinate UAT with business stakeholders to validate requirements and outcomes.
  • Ensure delivered work meets functional, regulatory, and operational expectations.
  • Support consistent QA and release practices to improve predictability and confidence.
Production Support
  • Provide business-facing support during key Pacific Time production hours.
  • Help triage issues, gather context, and coordinate resolution.
  • Ensure incidents and requests are logged with sufficient detail for efficient turnaround.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
