The MED will soon adopt new and amended rules for the decontamination and remediation of regulated marijuana. Colorado producers will be required to re-test remediated or decontaminated product (flower, wet whole plant or trim) for microbial, mycotoxin and water activity*. Producers have the option of destroying, decontaminating in-house or sending product to a third party for decontamination.
The new rule also features updates to the following terms:
Now defined as “neutralization or removal of dangerous substances or other contaminants from regulated marijuana without changing the form of the regulated marijuana.”
Now defined as “neutralization or removal of dangerous substances or other contaminants from regulated marijuana while changing the form of the regulated marijuana.”
What can you do if you fail microbial testing?
If your regulated marijuana flower, wet whole plant, or trim failed microbial testing, you have three options. Download our Microbial Failure Decision Tree to help guide you with the Decontamination and/or Remediation testing process.
